Design

To support the rehabilitation and maintenance of downtown Liberty, the Design committee will play a key role in shaping the physical appearance of the downtown business district as a place that is attractive to shoppers, investors, business owners and visitors by enhancing the appearance of each business as well as that of the entire business district, encouraging quality improvements to private properties and public spaces, guiding future growth and creating incentives. In addition to the flower pots around the square, the Design committee will explore opportunities to develop attractive landscapes, help business owners create attractive window displays, improve public parking areas, and provide information kiosks that will direct visitors to downtown Liberty businesses and tourist attractions.

Economic Improvement

Most traditional business districts will never again be able to provide the range of goods and services they offered 20 to 30 years ago. The Economic Improvement committee study downtown Liberty's current economic condition, identify opportunities for market growth, develop financial incentives, find capital for building rehabilitation and business development and monitor the economic performance of the downtown business district.

Promotion

The Promotion committee will market the downtown business district to residents, investors, business owners and visitors. The committee is developing an effective promotional strategy of advertising, retail promotions, special events and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers.

Organization

The Organization committee is developing the infrastructure required to develop and maintain HDLI as a successful organization. The committee has completed an application to become a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation. To enhance communications, the committee is publishing a newsletter about HDLI and the downtown district and developing a website. The committee is also developing a fundraising program and programs to recruit new members and volunteers. Developing partnerships with other Liberty civic organizations as well as public and private groups are important committee activities. The committee plays a central role in budget development, HDLI planning for the year and preparing the annual report.
