What is a Little Free Library?

It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too! We have one located in Liberty at 429 W Franklin and another one located at 829 Scott Drive of Bobbi Chamberlain.

Little Libraries are encouraged and permitted on private property in Liberty. However, they must not be placed in the right-of-way, which is often identified as the grass strip between the public sidewalk and the street. Private property, such as a Little Library, within the right-of-way is at risk of damage from snow plows, utility trucks, and other vehicles. For the safety of the Little Library and its users, we ask that it be installed on the inside of the sidewalk.
